Representing India along with Mainam and Mangat are Ritu “The Indian Tigresss” Phogat, 27, and Arjan Bhullar, 34. Mangat and Bhullar are the representatives of Canada, as well.

In the main event of the evening, Bhullar will challenge reigning ONE Heavyweight World Champion Brandon “The Truth” Vera, 43, of the Philippines. It was in the Philippines where Mainam earned his first ONE Championship win.

The name of the event is inspired by “Dangal,” the highest-grossing Indian film ever. Released in 2016, the biographical sports drama film is about Phogat’s sisters Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari, who became India’s first world-class female wrestlers after being trained by their father Mahavir Singh Phogat.

Mainam’s first 3 ONE Championship wins

A professional MMA fighter since 2016, Mainam fought in JSJ Fight League before competing in Super Fight League and ONE Championship. Currently, he holds a professional MMA record of 6 wins and 2 losses and he is riding a three-bout winning streak.

When Mainam made his ONE Championship debut at “ONE: Masters of Fate” on November 8, 2019 in the Philippines, he submitted Khon Sichan of Cambodia. On October 9, 2020, the Thoubal native submitted Liu Pengshuai, 24, of China at “ONE: Reign of Dynasties.”

Mainam’s most recent fight was at “ONE: Fists of Fury 3” in Singapore on March 19, 2021. He submitted Abdul Aziz “The Krauser” Calim, 22, of Indonesia and the Philippines.

The reigning strawweight champion of ONE Championship is Joshua “The Passion” Pacio, 25, of Baguio City, Philippines. He trains out of Team Lakay in La Trinidad, Benguet, Philippines.

Pacio has been competing in ONE Championship since 2016. He currently holds a professional MMA record of 19 wins and 3 losses.
