Seo Hee “Arale Chan” Ham (함서희), 34, of South Korea is ready for her ONE Championship debut. She is one of eight women who will participate in the highly anticipated ONE Women’s Atomweight World Grand Prix. She takes on Denice “Lycan Queen” Zamboanga, 24, of the Philippines at “ONE: Empower.”
Originally, “ONE: Empower” was scheduled to broadcast live on May 28, 2021 from the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore but it was postponed until further notice due to the new coronavirus (COVID-19) situation. ONE Championship is expected to announce a new date soon along with any changes to the card.
“Physically and mentally, I feel like I’m in the best shape of my career,” Ham said. “I feel strong and ready for my ONE Championship debut. It’s going to be a fun one.”
For Ham, ONE Women’s Atomweight World Grand Prix is a great tournament and a great opportunity to compete among the best. She is widely regarded as the most dangerous entrant and most favored to win the tournament overall.
“I have butterflies in my stomach just thinking about it,” Ham shared. “It’s an honor to be part of the world’s largest martial arts organization and I can’t wait to experience the circle!”
Ham predicts that Zamboanga will look for a takedown and try to bring the fight to the ground. The Korean contender said, “I don’t really mind fighting anywhere in MMA so I’m just going to try to make the best of every situation.”
.
“I believe I will knock her out and that’s the plan,” Ham continued. “That’s what I want but of course, I can’t guarantee that. I’m preparing to go the full distance. It has been a long time since my last fight so I want to enjoy every minute of it.”
While Ham is undefeated since 2017, she knows Zamboanga is a legitimate threat and has prepared for her Filipino opponent accordingly. For Ham, Zamboanga is a great athlete who is very strong and capable.
“I don’t think she has any real weaknesses,” Ham said of Zamboanga. “I don’t want to underestimate her. As always, if I work hard and give it my all, I think I can win the whole thing.”
