Cote d’Ivoire’s Olivia Yace fighting for Miss World 2021 crown

Olivia Yace, 23, of Yamoussoukro, Cote d’Ivoire is one of the 40 Miss World 2021 quarterfinalists. One of her competitors is Tracy Maureen Perez, 28, of Cebu City, Philippines.

Miss World 2021 in Puerto Rico

Miss World 2019 Toni-Ann Singh, 26, of Jamaica was supposed to crown her successor at José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico on December 16, 2021. It was cancelled due to the new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and all the candidates who were already in San Juan were sent home.

From 97 candidates, only 40 were invited to compete in the coronation night of Miss World 2021 at José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum on March 16, 2022. Hosted by Peter Andre, Fernando Allende and Miss World 2016 Stephanie Del Valle, the ceremony will be broadcast on REELZ, London Live and Univision.

The 40 quarterfinalists will be whittled down to 12 semifinalists then to five finalists. In the end, Miss World 2021 and the first and second princesses will be declared.

Olivia Yace

Yace is a model who speaks French and English. She was featured in the Uniwax magazine wearing Gilles Toure’s design in August 2015 and she walked the runway in the Top 10 de la Mode Ivoirienne fashion show in October 2015.

From 2016 to 2020, Yace attended Widener University in Chester, Pennsylvania, United States where she earned her bachelor’s degree in business management with a concentration in marketing. From February 2016 to June 2016, she worked for Eolis Abidjan in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire as an assistant event coordinator.

From January 2018 to April 2018, Yace worked as a marketing event coordinator for the chapter of French-American Chamber of Commerce in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. From June 2019 to December 2019, she worked for Sofitel in Cote d’Ivoire as an event coordinator.

On September 4, 2021, she was crowned Miss Cote d’Ivoire 2021 at the Sofitel Abidjan Hôtel Ivoire in Abidjan, besting against 23 other candidates.

Tracy Maureen Perez

On September 15, 2019, Perez represented Cebu City at Miss World Philippines 2019 and finished in the Top 12. On October 25, 2020, she represented the city at Miss Universe Philippines 2020 at the Cordillera Convention Hall of Baguio Country Club in Baguio City, Philippines and finished in the Top 16.

It was Rabiya Mateo, then 24, of Iloilo City who won the Miss Universe Philippines 2020 title. Representing Baguio City, Bea Theresa Maynigo, then 24, was unplaced.

Perez also won Best in Swimsuit Photo and Miss Photogenic at Miss Universe Philippines 2020. On October 3, 2021, she represented Cebu City at Miss World Philippines 2021 and won the title.

Megan Young and Catriona Gray

On September 28, 2013, Megan Young, then 23, of the Philippines won Miss World 2013 at Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center in South Kuta, Bali, Indonesia. She is the first Miss World from the Philippines.

On December 18, 2016, Catriona Gray, then 22, of the Philippines finished in the Top 5 at Miss World 2016 at MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland, United States. On December 17, 2018, she beat 93 other candidates at the Impact Arena in Nonthaburi, Thailand and became the fourth Miss Universe from the Philippines.

Gray and her former boyfriend Clint Bondad first met in an elevator in Baguio City. In December 2020, Young and her husband Mikael Daez spent their holidays in the city.
