Team Lakay’s Stephen Loman earns 2nd ONE Championship win, beats Shoko Sato in Singapore

Stephen “The Sniper” Loman, 29, of the Philippines was one of the winners at the ONE Championship event “ONE: X“. He trains out of Team Lakay in La Trinidad, Benguet, Philippines, which is around 10km away from Baguio City, Philippines.

Loman earned his bachelor’s degree in criminology from the University of the Cordilleras in Baguio City. He is the fifth among the six children of Roldan Luis Loman of Mountain Province, Philippines and Naty Nabehet Loman of Ifugao, Philippines.

“ONE: X” was held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore in three parts on March 26, 2022. On the fight card were 11 mixed martial arts fights, three Muay Thai matches, three kickboxing contests, two submission grappling contests and one hybrid MMA-Muay Thai fight.

The first part started at 1:00 p.m. One of the matches in the first part was an MMA bout between Stephen and Shoko Sato, 34, of Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan in the bantamweight division.

After three five-minute rounds, referee Olivier Coste raised the hand of Stephen. The Igorot MMA fighter was declared the winner via unanimous decision.

It was Stephen’s second victory in ONE Championship. It improved his professional MMA record to 14 wins and 2 losses while Sato now has 32 wins, 15 losses, 2 draws and 1 No Contest.

As an MMA fighter, Stephen has been competing professionally since 2012. He was one of the contenders and winners in the inaugural event of BRAVE Combat Federation on September 23, 2016.

On November 17, 2017, Stephen became the bantamweight champion of BRAVE CF, which is based in Bahrain. He successfully defended the title four times before vacating it in February 2021 when he signed with ONE Championship.

On December 3, 2021, Stephen made his ONE Championship debut at “ONE: Winter Warriors” at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. He knocked out Yusup “Maestro” Saadulaev, 36, of Makhachkala, Dagestan, Russia.
